The exhibition examines the phenomena of effect and after-effect of certain artistic producers on the following generations. Hollis Frampton (1936-1984) produced videos in the end of the 70’s, at that time sacrilegious, which catapulted him out of the rigid canon of Avante-Garde filmmakers.
Although Blows into microphone .. is not an art historical exhibition, it has in mind however a temporal and historical dimension where several elements in the exhibition contain cross-references. This is not a Hollis Frampton retrospective: his works will not be shown within the exhibition. Within different categories, artists are invited to respond to a work of Frampton (or to one of the chosen categories itself). Parallel Events: In the framework of the exhibition, Frampton’s videos will be screened at the Votivkino.
