Hotel Very Heavy was established in 1992 in Budapest. Before its official opening it burned down to the ground. The only remains are memories and the carpet from the hallway in the second floor.

In 1999, we decided to rebuild Hotel Very Heavy. This exhibition is the reconstruction of the hotel premisis which are defined by the guests moving in a non-existing space.

Hotel Very Heavy refers to the subjective collection of interior spaces that exists in our minds. Allusion is made to the system of a hotel which while striving for openness creates prerequisites that are as neutral as it is possible for them to be. The spaces represented in the exhibition accommodate their visitors temporarily. This makes it possible to enter an imaginary system of spaces where the guest becomes introspective, where any practical preoccupation loses its meaning, which results in the creation of a personal and purely fictive environment.
