Stadtraum - Urbodrom Spielsession
The conditions of communal life are changing due to the continuing enclosure of social space, driven among other things by the privatisation mechanisms of late stage neoliberal capitalism, as well as by intensifying environmental and economic crises worldwide.
How can we, as residents of a city, influence the shaping of our living spaces? How can we make use of our right of co-determination? With the Urbodrom, a moderated game by Charlotte Fleischmann and Laura Lohmann from OutSite, we want to support or even rekindle the passion for social participation and democratic citizen participation. Through exchange and by taking on different perspectives, methods of social sustainability and co-creation are tested together in order to find potential solutions and new possibilities for co-creation.
Charlotte Fleischmann is a geographer, completed a Master's degree in International Development and is now studying spatial planning at TU Wien. Laura Lohmann studied Ethnology and Spanish, completed a Master's degree in Environmental Ethics and works as a street worker at Juvivo. The two met 5 years ago at Oikodrom, the "Vienna Institute for Urban Sustainability", and have been working on different projects there ever since. Their work focuses on spatial planning that meets all needs, whilst social and ecological sustainability, co-creation and participation are at the core of developing new ideas and projects. With Urbodrom, they want to spread their desire for social participation and activism into the city.
Due to the WUK renovation, concerts, performances, exhibitions and children's theatre can temporarily not take place at their usual venues. Under the title "VERSUCHSANSTALT" Kunsthalle Exnergasse, Musik, performing arts and KinderKultur curate the program in the newly renovated project space and interweave their topics and formats in a spatial and content-related juxtaposition and togetherness.
