gergő d. farkas: Deep Fake
What is real? What is fake? Deep Fake, gergő d. farkas’ first choreographic work from 2021, takes us into a world between virtual and authentic reality. A black-humoured and melancholic swan song to the end of the Anthropocene.
A lonely hybrid being between human and avatar moves to eerie music and enters into a tender relationship with a mysterious object called Grid. The contours of the living become blurred in this strange, flickering environment.
Accompanied by Márton Csernovszky’s uncanny music, gergő d. farkas takes us into a world in which light, sound, movement, human and non-human matter form a living and pulsating entity. In search of new possibilities of coexistence, the performance explores the question: How can we get the human gaze to be a little less anthropocentric?
Deep Fake toured internationally as part of the Aerowaves Twenty22 selection and was shown at the Zürcher Theater Spektakel (CH), the Dansehallerne (DK) and the Trafó House of Contemporary Arts (HU), among others. Deep Fake expands into the virtual world at deep-fake.world.

Information on the change of program
The ensemble of mama by gergő d. farkas, together with WUK performing arts, has decided not to present the guest performance as originally planned. Instead, the solo performance Deep Fake, the first choreographic work by gergő d. farkas, will be presented on March 28 and 29.
This decision is made in connection with recently expressed criticism directed at WUK performing arts. WUK performing arts takes this criticism seriously and is currently engaged in a process of critical examination.
All tickets reserved and purchased for March 28 and 29 remain valid. Ticket purchasers have been informed by email. If you still wish to cancel your tickets, please let us know by 14:00 of the respective day at the latest via performingarts@wuk.at.
The guest performance was curated in collaboration with imagetanz 2025 / brut Wien and is funded by WUK performing arts.
