The throat – the passageway that ferries a perpetual cargo of air, food, and words – is under constant duress as the access point to the essential constituents of its precious load: Breathing, eating, and speaking take on new meanings and perils at every turn of environmental shifts and political violence. Ecological devastation, food insecurity, and now a global pandemic are weighing on our bodies in the most palpable ways. Imagining the exhibition space as a living-breathing throat, we forge an organic space where artistic research can form new communities around shared concerns, and spill into Vienna as an urban laboratory for the study and exploration of total cohabitation.
